About the Role:

As a Floor Layer working with Dover Council, you will deliver a stable and profitable contract, providing excellent service through our local teams, who value collaboration for the benefit of the community.

Your duties include a range of flooring tasks, such as renewing sheet vinyl—measuring, cutting, laying, and seam sealing for durability; working with tiles—cutting, applying adhesive, and grouting; installing cap and cove wet room floors—creating seamless, waterproof surfaces; and preparing floors—cleaning, repairing, priming, and applying self-levelling compounds to ensure a professional finish. Each task requires attention to detail and knowledge of materials and techniques.

Role Criteria:

  • UK Full driving licence
  • Own hand and power tools
  • Previous experience as a floor layer
  • Experience with Cap and Cove

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available. To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held their licence for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points. All roles are subject to DBS/security checks before employment begins.

Benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Annual Mears Fun Day
  • Paid volunteering leave
  • Staff discounts via Mears Rewards
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Full uniform provided
