Job summary

Sodexo Group in Reading is seeking a Floor Captain to support facilities operations on a corporate site. This full-time role covers 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, onsite with parking.

You will help maintain clean, stocked areas and assist the cleaning and catering teams to deliver a high standard of service. Applicants should have experience in cleaning, catering or facilities support, with Food Safety Level 2 and COSHH knowledge.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning, catering, hospitality or facilities support.
• Food Safety Level 2 is required.
• Good understanding of COSHH and safe working practices.
• Hands-on with strong attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills for stock and supplies.
• Basic IT skills for data entry and record keeping.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Keep workplace catering, kitchenette and welfare areas clean, safe, welcoming and stocked.
• Carry out regular checks of shared areas to a high standard.
• Monitor and replenish vending machines and coffee facilities.
• Manage stock levels and place orders as required.
• Carry out basic stock checks, data entry and record keeping.
• Identify and report faults, shortages or issues and help resolve them quickly.
• Support the cleaning team when required and provide cover during holidays.
• Follow Food Safety, COSHH and Health & Safety procedures.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene across all areas.
• Respond to changing priorities and provide practical support.
• Work closely with colleagues for a smooth workplace experience.
• Maintain a friendly, professional approach with colleagues and customers.

What you'll do:

• Help keep workplace catering, kitchenette and welfare areas clean, safe, welcoming and fully stocked throughout the day.
• Carry out regular checks of shared areas, making sure everything is presented to a high standard.
• Monitor and replenish vending machines and coffee facilities, ensuring products are available, fresh and within date.
• Manage stock levels and place orders as required to ensure essential supplies are always available.
• Carry out basic stock checks, data entry and record keeping.
• Identify and report equipment faults, stock shortages or other issues, helping to resolve them quickly.
• Support the cleaning team when required, including providing additional cover during holidays or periods of absence.
• Follow Food Safety, COSHH and Health & Safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness across all areas within your responsibility.
• Respond to changing priorities throughout the day and provide practical support wherever it's needed.
• Work closely with colleagues to ensure a smooth and professional workplace experience.
• Maintain a friendly, professional and positive approach when interacting with colleagues and customers.

What you'll bring:

• Previous experience within cleaning, catering, hospitality or facilities support.
• Food Safety Level 2.
• A good understanding of COSHH and safe working practices.
• A hands‑on approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage stock and supplies effectively.
• Basic IT skills and the confidence to complete simple data entry and maintain records.
• The ability to identify problems and take appropriate action or elevate them when required.
• A reliable and professional approach to work.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to work confidently on your own as well as part of a team.
• Flexibility and a willingness to support different areas of the workplace when required.
