Job summary

Hull City Council is seeking a Flood Risk Management Officer to join the Living with Water partnership in Hull. This full-time, permanent role supports strategic flood risk planning and delivery across the city’s coastal, river, and urban drainage systems.

You will work with communities, planners, and partners to develop the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy, maintain datasets (including GIS), and advise on SuDS and drainage for new developments, helping Hull become more flood-resilient.

Responsibilities

• Support development of the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy and its delivery.
• Maintain accessible electronic filing and GIS datasets with GDPR-compliant processes.
• Provide statutory consultee input on flood risk and SuDS for planning applications.
• Engage communities through public participation and events.
• Assist land drainage duties in line with relevant legislation and partnerships.
• Advise on drainage conditions to planning permissions and add SuDS details to registers.
• Liaise with Living with Water partners to identify mitigation measures and funding options.
• Respond to flooding incidents and provide technical assistance to partners.
• Support mapping, reports and correspondence for Development Delivery.
