Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Flood Risk Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering consultancy delivering flood risk, drainage, and environmental solutions. You will prepare Flood Risk Assessments, develop drainage strategies, and perform hydraulic modelling to support planning applications and development projects.

You will assess flood risks and contribute to SuDS design, working with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant solutions from

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and hydraulic modelling.
• Knowledge of UK planning policy, flood risk guidance and environmental regulations.
• Familiarity with modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW or InfoWorks ICM is advantageous.
• Strong communication, report-writing and problem-solving skills.
• Full right to work in the UK.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Live within a commutable distance to the London office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and develop drainage strategies.
• Conduct hydraulic modelling to support planning applications and development projects.
• Assess fluvial, tidal, and surface water flood risks and identify mitigation measures.
• Contribute to SuDS design and liaise with clients, local authorities and project teams.
• Deliver practical, policy-compliant solutions from initial assessment to detailed design.
