A leading company in the Public Sector is seeking an Assistant Engineer for Flood Risk Management in Greater Manchester. The role involves providing technical consultancy, assessing planning applications, and supporting flood mitigation projects. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and qualifications in civil engineering, with skills in GIS and understanding of flood risk management.
A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for an Assistant Engineer – Flood Risk Management to join their Highways Network Management team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a flood risk or highways environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is toprovide technical consultancy within the Flood Risk Management team, delivering high-quality responses to planning applications, supporting the delivery of flood mitigation projects, and maintaining accurate asset and GIS data.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Assessing planning applications for minor developments with regard to flood risk and drainage
• Supporting maintenance and updates of the GIS flood asset register
• Assisting with the delivery of capital-funded flood mitigation projects
• Providing support to the wider team in flood risk enquiries and partnership work with risk management authorities
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• ONC / OND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or relevant industry experience
• Experience in a planning, highways, environmental, or flood risk role
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Knowledge of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and flood risk assessments
• GIS proficiency and experience in spatial data management
• Understanding of the planning process and policy relating to flood risk
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £32per hour PAYE).
