Job summary

FCC Environment Group is hiring a Floating Quarry Operative for Darrington Quarries. This full-time role offers an hourly rate of £15.54 and a 47.75-hour week across quarry locations in Yorkshire.

You will operate mobile and fixed plant, perform pre-start checks, maintain production schedules and uphold safety and environmental standards. The role includes training and progression, pension, life insurance, and a discretionary bonus where applicable, plus a flexible benefits package and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Experience of working within quarrying.
• Knowledge, experience and/or qualifications in mobile plant operations.
• Experience of operating equipment such as wheeled loading shovels, articulated dumpers and tracked excavators.
• A strong commitment to health and safety and safe working practices.
• A commitment and determination to meet personal objectives, with strong drive and resilience.
• The ability to work collaboratively at all levels.
• The ability to re-evaluate priorities and respond quickly and positively to change.
• A performance-driven approach with the ability to contribute to improvements in operational performance.
• Flexibility to routinely travel between quarry sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile and fixed plant safely and in line with manufacturers' instructions and site safety systems.
• Work across multiple quarry locations as required.
• Complete daily pre-start inspections and report defects.
• Maintain quarry production levels safely and to schedule.
• Keep IMS inspection/checklist systems up to date.
• Inspect materials to ensure high-quality product.
• Carry out basic preventative maintenance on plant.
• Promote environmentally conscious working practices.
• Travel between sites as directed by the Operations Manager.

What will you be doing?

• Operating mobile and fixed plant safely and in accordance with manufacturers' operating instructions and site safe systems of work.
• Operating across various quarry locations within the business as required.
• Completing daily pre-start inspections and reporting any defects with plant or equipment.
• Ensuring quarry production levels are maintained safely and to schedule.
• Maintaining inspection systems and checklists in accordance with the IMS system.
• Examining materials produced to ensure a high-quality product is maintained.
• Carrying out basic preventative maintenance tasks on mobile and fixed plant.
• Working in accordance with the Environmental Management System and promoting environmentally considerate working practices.
• Travelling between sites as required at the direction of the Operations Manager.
