Job summary

FCC Environment in Darrington is seeking a Floating Quarry Operative to operate mobile and fixed quarry plant across multiple sites within the operating area. You will be based at Darrington Quarry but will provide cover as required, in a full-time role with opportunities for training and progression.

The role emphasizes safe working practices, daily pre-start inspections, maintenance tasks, and contributing to production targets.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within quarrying.
• Knowledge or qualifications in mobile plant operations.
• Experience with wheeled loading shovels, articulated dumpers and tracked excavators.
• Strong commitment to health and safety and safe working practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to change.
• Willingness to travel between quarry sites.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile and fixed plant safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ operating instructions and site safe systems of work.
• Operate across various quarry locations within the business as required.
• Complete daily pre-start inspections and report defects with plant or equipment.
• Ensure quarry production levels are maintained safely and to schedule.
• Maintain inspection systems and checklists in accordance with the IMS system.
• Examine materials produced to ensure a high-quality product is maintained.
• Carry out basic preventative maintenance tasks on mobile and fixed plant.
• Travel between sites as required at the direction of the Operations Manager.

Hourly Rate – £15.54 per hour

As a Floating Quarry Operative at FCC Environment, you will operate mobile and fixed quarry plant across various locations within the operating area, helping to maintain safe and efficient quarry operations. You will be based at Darrington Quarry but will provide cover across the quarries business as required.

This vacancy is for a full-time position.

What will you be doing?

• Operating mobile and fixed plant safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ operating instructions and site safe systems of work.
• Operating across various quarry locations within the business as required.
• Completing daily pre-start inspections and reporting any defects with plant or equipment.
• Ensuring quarry production levels are maintained safely and to schedule.
• Maintaining inspection systems and checklists in accordance with the IMS system.
• Examining materials produced to ensure a high-quality product is maintained.
• Carrying out basic preventative maintenance tasks on mobile and fixed plant.
• Working in accordance with the Environmental Management System and promoting environmentally considerate working practices.
• Travelling between sites as required at the direction of the Operations Manager.

• Experience of working within quarrying.
• Knowledge, experience and/or qualifications in mobile plant operations.
• Experience of operating equipment such as wheeled loading shovels, articulated dumpers and tracked excavators.
