Working Hours: 20 hours per week, 9.30am-1.30pm (Monday to Friday), term time only

Contract Type: Fixed term (Approximately 2 years) until completion of Chef Production Standards

Based at St Joseph's RC Primary School (Ordsall), required to work across Ordsall / Salford area

About the role: Citywide is Salford City Council's catering service, providing school meals to most of Salford's schools. Our service promotes healthy eating and provides nutritious food and drinks, ensuring high-quality meals for pupils, promoting good nutritional health, protecting nutritionally vulnerable pupils, and encouraging good eating habits.

As an Apprentice Assistant Cook, you will work under the supervision of the Cook Supervisor, performing duties such as food preparation, basic cooking, meal serving, cleaning, washing up, and storage.

We offer a supportive environment with excellent progression opportunities.

Development opportunities: Full training will be provided, including a Level 2 Production Chef apprenticeship, hygiene certification, and Level 2 in maths and English (unless exempt). You will be supported by an experienced tutor and the Cook Supervisor. Attendance at Salford College one day per week is required.
