Flight Test Engineer Instructor - Fixed Wing

At QinetiQ, we are committed to leading in aviation innovation! We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and qualified Fixed Wing Flight Test Engineer to join our ETPS team at MOD Boscombe Down.

You will be part of a unique operational site featuring the UK's longest military runway and state-of-the-art facilities, including The Night Vision test house, the environmental hangar, and the UAS test hangar. This environment fosters innovation and collaboration with a team of highly experienced flight test instructors.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality instruction on various topics to aspiring flight test professionals.
• Provide ground and in-flight instruction to Test Pilot and Flight Test Engineer students, including assessment and grading of student reports.
• Mentor students and provide constructive debriefings to enhance safety and learning.
• Contribute to maintaining high safety standards in aviation operations.
• Potentially participate in other test activities within QinetiQ’s Flight Test Organisation.
• Travel within the UK and overseas as required for course activities.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Science degree with at least 3 years of experience as an LFTE or equivalent, or a graduate from a UK MoD-recognised Test Pilot School.
• Extensive experience in flight testing, including synthetic and simulation use.
• Ability to teach on the ground and instruct in the air, with the skill to simplify complex subjects for diverse students.
• Knowledge of aircraft performance, systems, stability & control, and data analysis software.
• Experience with the UK MoD’s Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
