About The Job You’re Considering

Flight Operations Engineer | Brize Norton | On-site

This is more than just a technical role—it’s an opportunity to be at the heart of mission-critical operations that support the UK’s strategic airlift capabilities. As a Flight Operations Engineer, you’ll be embedded within a dynamic team, working closely with aircrew and military stakeholders to ensure every mission is planned with precision and confidence.

You’ll be the go-to expert for mission planning software, helping to shape how flight operations are executed and improved. Whether you’re supporting aircrew with planning tools, analysing airfields, or enhancing operational processes, your work will directly contribute to the success and safety of real-world missions.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, values continuous learning, and wants to make a meaningful impact in aviation and defence. If you’re looking for a role where your skills are respected, your voice is heard, and your growth is supported—this could be the perfect fit.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including:

identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)

Your role

As a Flight Operations Engineer, you’ll play a key role in supporting mission planning activities and occasionally covering performance-related tasks. You’ll be part of a supportive team, working closely with aircrew and military stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Acting as the local expert for mission planning software
  • Supporting aircrew in using mission planning tools effectively
  • Suggesting and implementing improvements to processes
  • Managing software updates and version control
  • Providing expertise in flight planning, dispatch, and aircraft performance
  • Updating EFB and mission planning systems
  • Conducting airfield analysis and designing contingency procedures

You can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini building an inclusive future is part of everyday life and will be part of your working reality. We have built a representative and welcoming environment, for everyone.

Essential

Your skills and experience

  • Degree in aeronautical engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in Flight Operations Engineering or Dispatch
  • Experience with mission/performance planning tools (e.g., Airbus PEP, MPS)
  • Recognised training in Flight Operations or Dispatch

Desirable

  • Experience working directly with aircrew or military clients
  • Knowledge of military air transport operations

Skills That Set You Apart

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, adaptable, and mission-focused
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative team player who values diverse perspectives

Don’t meet every single requirements? Studies have shown women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to building an inclusive and authentic workplace so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.

Your security clearance

To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.

To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.

Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.

Some posts are restricted to sole UK Nationals for security reasons; therefore, you may be asked about your citizenship in the application process

You will be encouraged to have a positive work-life balance. Our hybrid-first way of working means we embed hybrid working in all that we do and make flexible working arrangements the day-to-day reality for our people. All UK employees are eligible to request flexible working arrangements. You’d be joining an accredited Great Place to work for Wellbeing in 2024.
