Job description

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated State-Registered Biomedical Scientists to join our friendly team in Clinical Biochemistry as part of the Blood Sciences Department.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and conscientious individual with a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver a safe, high-quality, and effective service while continuously striving for improvement.

The Trust serves a population of over 400,000 and is based at laboratories in Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI). The department holds full UKAS ISO15189:2012 accreditation and IBMS approval for training. It offers training and development opportunities for the right candidate to enhance their skills and ambitions.

The Biochemistry section is well-equipped with:

  • Siemens Labcell tracking system
  • Versacell X3
  • Advia chemistry 1800/XPT
  • Centaur XPT analysers interfaced to the Centralink system and linemaster software
  • Other semi-automated platforms

Following training and competency assessments, the successful candidate will participate in round-the-clock working patterns, including early, day, late, night shifts, bank holidays, and weekends. Work will primarily be at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, with rotation at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Previous laboratory experience and basic IT skills are advantageous, but full training will be provided.
