Job summary

Anglian Water is seeking an Abstraction Strategy and Regulation Manager to lead abstraction strategy, regulatory risk management and public interest case development. You will drive CAP governance, coordinate with regulators, and shape long-term sustainability in water resources across the Anglian region.

You will manage cross-functional teams, deliver regulatory commitments on time, and influence programme strategies such as WRMP29 and PR29. Excellent communication and analysis are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent professional experience in environmental/policy/regulation or related field.
• Experience leading complex projects or programmes.
• Strong experience working with regulators in environmental or water sectors.
• Proven ability to develop evidence-based regulatory cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret risks and data.
• Ability to lead, influence and inspire across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work towards chartered status (desirable).
• Water company or utilities sector experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead abstraction strategy, regulatory risk management and public interest case development.
• Coordinate with regulators and internal teams to develop robust solutions.
• Maintain records of licence changes, risks, dependencies and mitigations.
• Monitor progress and escalate risks as needed.
• Develop Public Interest Case reports when caps cannot be met.
• Collaborate with Sustainable Abstraction Programme Team on mitigation measures.
• Shape long-term abstraction strategy and integrate requirements into WRMP29/PR29.
• Provide strategic insight on regulatory trends and opportunities.
• Manage consultants for technical and evidence-based case work.
• Champion health, safety and continuous improvement culture.
