Job summary

Step Teachers in Norfolk is seeking a Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils across EYFS to KS2 in Great Yarmouth and surrounding areas, providing one-to-one and small-group help and assisting teachers with engaging activities.

You’ll work across different schools, promote positive learning habits, and contribute to safeguarding, while enjoying flexible short-term and long-term placements and PAYE weekly pay through Step Teachers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children in a primary school or educational setting.
• Understanding of strategies to support learning across EYFS, KS1, or KS2.
• Patient, nurturing, and approachable manner.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Adaptable across different schools and classroom environments.
• Professional, reliable, and proactive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils across the primary age range
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
• Support pupils with varying needs, including SEND, when required
• Promote positive behaviour and follow school behaviour policies
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive learning habits
• Prepare classroom resources and assist with lesson organisation
• Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff
• Support daily routines and contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements
