Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils across EYFS to Key Stage 2 near Lowestoft and the East Suffolk coast. The role offers day-to-day cover or long-term placements, with a focus on building confidence in core subjects and supporting classroom activities.

Ideal candidates will have Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or relevant experience, a patient and proactive approach, and a willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or solid prior experience.
• Patient, encouraging and empathetic with strong communication.
• Good knowledge of early reading, phonics and primary age-group development.
• Adaptable, hands-on approach and initiative in lively classrooms.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain via Update Service).

Responsibilities

• Support class teachers with daily classroom setup, activity preparation and a safe, engaging learning environment.
• Work with individual pupils or small groups to boost confidence in phonics, reading, writing and numeracy.
• Assist with classroom management to keep pupils focused and participating.
• Encourage positive behaviour, social development and independence in and outside the classroom.
• Monitor pupil progress and share constructive feedback with the class teacher.
