Job summary

The Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind is seeking a part-time Community Advice Officer to support visually impaired people in Sheffield and sensory impaired people in the Rotherham area. The role is 22.5 hours per week with flexibility across Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Responsibilities include visiting clients at home to advise on aids, liaising with Social Services, assisting with welfare benefit applications, and completing assessments.

Responsibilities

• Visit clients in their homes in Sheffield and Rotherham to offer support and advice.
• Provide guidance on aids to daily tasks and liaise with Social Services to secure services.
• Assist with benefit applications (PIP, Attendance Allowance) and support appeals when needed.
• Conduct Specialist Needs Assessments for Social Services.
• Respond to referrals and document interactions in the database.
• Support social and leisure activities and attend staff meetings.
