Job summary

The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a paediatric dietitian for a one-day-a-week post based at the James Paget University Hospital or Newberry Child Development Centre. You will assess and plan dietary care for children from birth to 19 years, including allergy and diabetes services, in a large multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include current state registration and a minimum of 18 months post-registration experience.

Qualifications

• Current state registration
• 18 months post-registration dietetic experience
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
• Evidence of keeping up to date with knowledge
• Nice to have paediatric post-registration experience
• Clinical supervisory skills or equivalent teaching qualification

Responsibilities

• Provide a specialist dietetic service to children, including nutritional assessment and dietary education
• Manage regular paediatric dietetic clinics with referrals from paediatricians, GPs and health visitors
• Calculate nutritional requirements and formulate feeding regimens and care plans
• Provide advice and education at consultant-led allergy clinics
• Train and educate medical, nursing and other health professionals and patient groups
• Monitor enteral feeds and outpatient nutritional supplements; prescribe inpatients under trust guidelines
• Organise safe discharge of enterally fed patients and coordinate home equipment
• Develop up-to-date nutrition resources and maintain expertise through CPD
• Contribute to paediatric diabetes and obesity services and broader service development
• Attend child protection case conferences and support families in challenging situations
