Job summary

Cover People are seeking Maths Supply Teachers to support secondary schools across South Manchester. Roles are day-to-day and short-term with potential longer-term openings. You will deliver high-quality Maths lessons, maintain continuity of learning, and adapt to different school environments.

QTS or recognized teaching qualifications and recent secondary Maths experience are required. Flexible availability, strong subject knowledge, and effective classroom management are essential.

• QTS or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.
• Recent experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
• Strong subject knowledge.
• Effective classroom and behaviour-management skills.
• The ability to follow existing planning and adapt your approach where necessary.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A reliable and professional approach.
• A genuine commitment to helping pupils make progress.
• ECTs and experienced Maths Teachers encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Teach Maths across KS3 and KS4.
• Deliver lessons in line with the school's curriculum and existing planning.
• Support pupils with mathematical understanding and problem-solving.
• Adapt tasks to meet different abilities and learning needs.
• Maintain a calm, focused and well-managed classroom.
• Set clear expectations and manage behaviour effectively.
• Check pupils' understanding and address misconceptions.
• Encourage pupils to participate and build confidence in Maths.
• Work alongside Teaching Assistants and other school staff.
