Job summary

Townsend Church of England School is seeking an enthusiastic Intervention Tutor to provide targeted academic support in literacy, numeracy and foundational learning skills. You will work primarily with individuals and small groups, ensuring interventions complement classroom teaching and have measurable impact on progress.

Qualified Teacher Status is desirable, with experience in education or tutoring roles.

• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience of working with children or young people in an educational setting.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and tailor support to learners' needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality interventions to individuals and small groups.
• Plan focused sessions to address gaps in knowledge and skills.
• Adapt teaching and resources to meet different starting points.
• Support development of literacy, numeracy and study skills.
• Monitor progress and maintain accurate records.
• Build students' confidence, resilience and motivation.
• Collaborate with teaching, SEND/Inclusion and pastoral colleagues.
• Support a whole-school approach to closing attainment gaps.
