At Axcis Education, we are proud of our long-standing partnership with a well-reputed trust of SEN schools across South Gloucestershire, with sites in North Bristol, Yate, and Thornbury. These schools provide specialist education for students with a wide range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).

About the Schools

The trust's schools are nurturing, inclusive environments where every pupil is truly valued. The settings are highly student-centred, and staff work collaboratively to ensure that each child can thrive and reach their full potential. Whether supporting non-verbal students through sensory play, facilitating outdoor learning and life-skills activities, or assisting with therapy-based interventions, no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team where communication, empathy, and a proactive attitude are key.

The schools champion respect, inclusion, creativity, and a personalised approach to learning, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and professional development.

Who is this role ideal for?

We welcome applications from:

  • Nursery Practitioners: Many find the transition into SEN school settings seamless due to the play-based, sensory and developmental approaches used in both sectors.
  • Support Workers or Carers: Especially those with experience supporting individuals with autism, complex medical needs, or learning difficulties in residential or community settings.
  • Students or Graduates in Psychology, Education, or Sociology: This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a classroom environment, supporting SEND students directly and working alongside experienced professionals.
  • Individuals seeking flexibility: Whether you are looking for regular work or last-minute, ad-hoc shifts, this role offers flexible scheduling to suit your lifestyle.
What skills do you need?
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Confidence working with children and young people with additional needs
  • A flexible attitude – you may be supporting personal care, sensory regulation, or learning tasks
  • Good communication and willingness to follow direction from the class teacher or team
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND
Why work with Axcis Education?
  • Competitive daily pay (starting at £13.89/hour, depending on experience and qualifications)
  • Flexible working – pick up shifts to suit your schedule
  • Opportunities for long-term or permanent roles
  • FREE training and CPD (including Team Teach, Autism Awareness, Safeguarding, and more)
  • 24/7 support from your dedicated local consultant – I’m Laura, a former teacher with a SEND background, and I’m here to help you every step of the way!
  • Opportunities to gain experience across a variety of specialist settings
