Job summary

Hollybank Trust in Mirfield is looking for a Bank Special Support Assistant to join Hollybank School and support children with complex disabilities. You will assist with learning activities, promote communication and independence, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team to create a nurturing learning environment.

Joining us offers flexible, zero-hours shifts that fit around your commitments. DBS checks and safeguarding are integral, and sponsorship to work in the UK is not offered.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
• Experience working with children/young people with complex disabilities.
• A level 3 qualification in childcare (or willing to complete after probation).
• Experience with non-verbal communication.
• Previous experience of working with children/young people with physical/learning disabilities in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people throughout the school day.
• Encourage communication, confidence and independence.
• Assist with learning activities one-to-one and in small groups.
• Work closely with Teachers and multidisciplinary professionals.
• Support educational visits and enrichment activities.
• Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
• Promote wellbeing, dignity and positive self-esteem.
• Support personal care and following individual care plans where required.
• Recording progress and celebrating achievements every step of the way.
