Job summary

The Old Station Nursery Group is seeking Bank Nursery Practitioners to join our Newton Abbot location. This flexible, casual role supports children and staff across the nursery and offers opportunities to work mornings, afternoons, or full days as needed.

Pay ranges from £12.71 to £13.24 per hour with an additional 13.54% accrued holiday pay. The position operates on a zero-hours contract, with shifts Monday–Friday between 8am–6pm. Recruitment enquiries can be directed to [e-mail].

Qualifications

• Experience working in a childcare or Early Years setting; Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification is desirable but not essential.

Where You'll Be Working

Located in the historic market town, hdc Newton Abbot Nursery provides a nurturing and stimulating environment that offers the perfect start for your child’s learning journey. We offer a hygge-inspired environment to enable children to grow and be comfortable in homely surroundings. At our Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ nursery, the décor and room layouts are set to encourage togetherness and familiarity. The focus is on children’s interests; an adult helping hand is provided to promote extended learning and support development. The nursery is located on Devon Square in the centre of Newton Abbot, making it wonderfully central and only a short walk from the train station.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our Bank Nursery Team, you’ll support children and colleagues across the nursery as and when needed -whether that’s covering holidays, supporting during busy periods, or helping provide consistency for children when teams need extra support.

No two days are ever quite the same -and that’s part of the joy.

One moment you could be building dens outdoors and the next you’ll be helping bring story time to life.

You’ll support children through play, creativity, curiosity, and connection while helping create a safe, nurturing environment where they feel happy, valued, and confidence to explore.

What We’re Looking For

Experience working in a childcare or Early Years setting, aLevel 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification is desirable but not essential.

We’re looking for people with big hearts, curious minds, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s growth and development.
