Job Description:

We are looking for an ambitious and capable Research Fellow to be a senior trial statistician for an exciting new partnership involving the , the , which aims to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through a people-centred and convergence science approach.

The Initiative is led by Professor Alison Holmes. This project is part of the 'Put the patient first' stream and is co-led by Dr Timothy Rawson and Professor Victoria Cornelis. The project involves conducting a data-enabled trial with the goal of addressing antimicrobial resistance and preparing for the development and funding of a SMART trial. The postholder will work closely with the project team, providing statistical support across related work packages, overseeing all aspects of trial design, implementation, conduct, and analysis, including expert statistical advice, development of study protocols, and statistical analysis plans. There will also be opportunities to undertake related methodological projects in SMART trial designs.

The position is based within ICTU, where you will join a large, supportive group of statisticians working on clinical trials.

  • Provide statistical support in all aspects of trial design, implementation, conduct, and analysis, including expert advice, and development of protocols and analysis plans.
  • Work autonomously, prioritising and managing your workload effectively.
  • Develop funding applications for collaborative trials and your own methodological research with support from senior colleagues.
  • Hold a PhD or equivalent experience in statistics, medical statistics, or a related field.
  • Have knowledge and experience of randomised controlled trials, including adaptive trial design and analysis.
  • Evidence of significant contributions to proposal writing.
  • Record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals in clinical trials or research methods.
  • Experience in teaching and supporting teaching activities.
  • Be a motivated, well-organised individual with a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration within a team, showing openness and cooperation.
  • Willing to travel within the UK and abroad for research and conferences.
