Job summary

RE Personnel is seeking a Workshop Manager in Cheltenham to lead a team of HGV Technicians, a Workshop Supervisor and an Administrator. The role covers day-to-day workshop operations and supporting the Bristol depot, requiring travel between sites.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership, a strong background in HGV maintenance, and up-to-date knowledge of vehicle compliance and tachograph systems. Mon-Fri with some Saturdays; salary is competitive.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a managerial role with interviews, investigations and grievances.
• HGV Class 2 licence or above with good tachograph understanding.
• City & Guilds HGV Parts 1, 2 and 3 qualification, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Strong technical understanding of HGV maintenance: hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of vehicle compliance requirements, including R2C and LOLER inspection systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support workshop team for efficient, productive service.
• Oversee vehicle availability, maintenance schedules and labour to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate fleet maintenance records and compliance documentation.
• Uphold high standards of workshop housekeeping, health and safety, and policies.
• Balance customer service with commercial objectives and provide clear technical guidance.
