Vehicle Technician – Ferndown Police Station
Rate: £19.46 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 12 months

Are you an experienced Vehicle Technician looking for a rewarding opportunity within the police force? We are seeking a skilled professional to maintain and repair fleet vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring safety, reliability, and legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities: ? Perform scheduled servicing and unscheduled repairs to police vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair faults efficiently to ensure vehicle availability.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and compliance documents.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with COSHH, Health & Safety, and risk assessment regulations.
  • Provide expert engineering advice and technical support to vehicle users.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and software to identify vehicle faults.
  • Recover and assess broken-down or accident-damaged vehicles.
Essential Requirements:

Qualified in motor vehicle service and repair – City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent.
  • Post-apprenticeship experience in servicing and repairing vehicles.
  • Knowledge of modern vehicle diagnostics, repair techniques, and engineering practices.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a systematic approach to prioritising tasks.
  • Good communication skills – able to liaise with officers and staff at all levels.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Vehicle Inspectorate Nominated Tester Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Experience of working to industry repair times efficiently and effectively.
