Starr’s ERS Syndicate 218 in London seeks a Senior Underwriter - Fleet to lead underwriting strategy and develop our appetite for motor products. You will collaborate with Pricing and Technology teams, manage broker relationships, monitor portfolio performance, and drive initiatives that enhance pricing accuracy and risk selection while complying with regulatory standards.

This role reports to the Product Manager and focuses on delivering sustainable financial results.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of product pricing and market dynamics.
• Strong analytical skills using Excel to translate data into actionable insights.
• Ability to present insights and recommendations to committees and stakeholders.
• High commercial awareness with focus on performance and value creation.
• Experience operating in a sophisticated underwriting/control environment with governance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the underwriting strategy for our motor product line.
• Analyze portfolio performance and pricing strategies to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Product Performance Analysts to enhance knowledge and delivery.
• Refine underwriting appetite to exploit market opportunities and outperform peers.
• Provide input to pricing models and risk assessments for better accuracy.
• Maintain relationships with brokers and other partners to align with strategy.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and conduct standards in all activities.
• Manage key risks and ensure governance through first-line controls.
