Job summary

Qualifications

• CPC qualification and eligibility to act as Transport Manager.
• Minimum two years’ experience in transport, logistics or fleet management.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Experience leading and developing transport or logistics teams.
• Strong knowledge of Operator’s Licence compliance, drivers’ hours, tachographs and transport legislation.

Responsibilities

• Act as the nominated Transport Manager on the company’s Operator’s Licence and ensure compliance with transport rules.
• Manage fleet maintenance records, PMIs, MOTs and driver documentation.
• Lead and develop the transport team, including performance management and training.
• Coordinate inter-branch deliveries and wider transport activities.
• Provide cover for the Transport Planner during holidays/absences.
• Maintain health and safety standards and provide drivers with necessary resources.
• Investigate issues, resolve problems and implement improvements to service delivery.
• Oversee fleet insurance claims from notification to resolution with insurers.
• Manage transport department budget and monitor expenditures.
• Negotiate competitive rates with suppliers and contractors.
• Collaborate with branches and HR/Accounts on operational matters and invoicing.
• Deliver reliable transport services across the business.
• Drive continuous improvement in scheduling, booking, tracking, and communication systems.
