Qualifications

Position: Fleet Technician (VN3363)

Business Area: Fleet, Plant & Workshops

Location: Slade Green Depot, Kent

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 45 per week

Team/Department Activities

This role operates within a workshop environment, covering all types of fleet equipment to relevant skill levels.

Role Purpose & Responsibilities
  • Support a variety of tasks with flexibility and teamwork.
  • Undertake relevant training and qualifications.
  • Maintain courteous and prompt communication via telephone.
  • Conduct vehicle defect inspections and respond to emergency and winter call-outs.
  • Use initiative to plan and execute workload.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Service and repair equipment in line with manufacturer instructions at designated workshops.
  • Willingness to undergo specialist equipment training from manufacturers.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Knowledge of Vehicles and Plant.
  • City & Guilds in commercial/plant vehicle repairs or equivalent, LGV Class 1 or 2, CPC in transport.
  • Banksman certification, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, Current Driving License, CSCS card (if required).
  • HGV qualification, Emergency First Aid Skills.
  • Experience with Mig and Arc welding, hydraulics, and electrics.
  • Understanding of electronics, health & safety procedures, and fleet vehicle knowledge.
Personal Qualities
  • Enthusiasm and team-oriented mindset.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours and attitude.
  • Good attendance record.
  • Non-smoking during working hours.
