Job description

About Us:

We are a leading provider of managed vehicle services, dedicated to ensuring our clients' fleets operate at peak performance. Our commitment to excellence and attention to detail has earned us a reputation for reliability and quality in fleet management.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fleet Technician to oversee the presentation and maintenance of our managed contract client assets, including vehicles and trailers. This hands-on role requires a proactive individual with a strong background in general maintenance and technical expertise. Your primary responsibility will be to repair, monitor, and maintain vehicles and trailers, ensuring they remain in optimal condition and ready for use. This position focuses on visual presentation, defect repairs, and damage maintenance resulting from regular use, rather than transport and legislative servicing. Collaboration with the Managed Contract Team Manager, Production Manager, and Group Fleet Engineer (CSE) is essential, with occasional work outside standard hours.

Why Join Us?

Joining our team means becoming part of a company that values precision, teamwork, and professional growth. We provide a supportive environment where your skills are recognised and developed. Our comprehensive benefits package and commitment to work-life balance make us an employer of choice in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine inspections and repairs of managed contract vehicles and trailers, addressing all identified defects.
  2. Maintain and enhance the visual presentation of vehicles, ensuring both internal and external standards are met.
  3. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, performing timely repairs to minimise downtime.
  4. Resolve all health and safety-related defects prior to the next asset deployment.
  5. Manage inventory, including stock-taking, ordering core consumables, and maintaining tools and equipment.
  6. Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for specialised repairs.
  7. Oversee generator stock, ensuring regular upkeep and maintenance.
  8. Coordinate maintenance schedules with the Managed Contracts Manager to prepare units for upcoming events, including work outside normal hours as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Proven experience in general maintenance or a related fleet maintenance role.
  2. Strong knowledge of trailer systems (training can be provided if necessary).
  3. Understanding of basic electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
  4. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
  5. Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  6. Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  7. Valid driver's license with a clean record (Class 2 preferred but not essential).
  8. Welding and fabrication skills are advantageous but not essential.

Working Hours & Benefits:

  1. Schedule: Tuesday AM - Saturday 1 PM (45 hours per week, including a 30-minute break).
  2. Tools and Equipment: All provided by the company.
  3. Holidays: 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  4. Profit Share: Quarterly profit share scheme.
  5. Health Benefits: Specsavers vouchers.
  6. Retirement: Private pension scheme.
  7. Additional Leave: Holiday buy-back scheme.
  8. Compensation: Competitive basic salary.
