Our Fleet Safety Team provides first-line support to over 2500 professional and vocational drivers across the North, Midlands & South of the UK & Ireland. These vital roles support the development of our LGV, LCV, and car driver communities to improve driver safety, thereby protecting other road users and the public.

The roles also focus on developing our transportation safety culture, processes, procedures, and innovating the vehicle fleet to ensure Sunbelt remains at the forefront of transportation safety. This includes leading the development, rollout, and management of the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme.

This role covers the North and Scotland.

About The Role

Our Fleet Safety Team supports over 2500 drivers across the UK & Ireland, focusing on safety culture, compliance, and technological advancements in vehicle safety, including the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Promote a safety-first culture to minimize risks and reduce traffic incidents.
  2. Support Line Managers responsible for drivers within depots, businesses, or regions to ensure compliance.
  3. Lead the development and implementation of the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme, including driver recognition initiatives.
  4. Utilize available technology to identify drivers needing coaching, guidance, or retraining, supporting Line Managers accordingly.
  5. Assist Line Managers with road traffic accident investigations, follow-up, and action plan finalizations.
  6. Lead on high-potential collisions and incidents.
  7. Build proactive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Encourage observation reporting, share lessons learned, and develop best practices.
  9. Maintain vehicle legal compliance within the region.
  10. Conduct periodic safety checks, vehicle inspections, and compliance record reviews.
  11. Track and report on vehicle and driver safety compliance.
  12. Contribute to the Engage for Life Strategy.
