Job description

Our Fleet Safety Team provides first-line support to over 2500 professional and vocational drivers across the North, Midlands, and South of the UK & Ireland. These roles support the development of our LGV, LCV, and car driver communities to enhance driver safety, thereby protecting other road users and the public.

The roles focus on developing our transportation safety culture, processes, and procedures, as well as innovating and developing our vehicle fleet to keep Sunbelt at the forefront of transportation safety. This includes leading the development, rollout, and management of the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme.

This role covers the Midlands region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safety-first culture to minimize risks and reduce traffic accidents and incidents.
  • Support Sunbelt Line Managers responsible for drivers within depots, businesses, or regions to ensure compliance.
  • Lead the development and rollout of the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme, including driver recognition initiatives.
  • Utilize available technology to identify drivers needing coaching, guidance, or retraining, and support Line Managers to ensure effective and timely interventions.
  • Assist Line Managers with road traffic accident investigations, follow-up, and action plan finalization.
  • Lead investigations into high-potential collisions and incidents.
  • Build proactive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Encourage observation reporting, support closeout processes, share lessons learned, and develop best practices.
  • Help maintain vehicle legal compliance within the region.
  • Conduct periodic safety checks, vehicle compliance inspections, and record reviews.
  • Track and report on vehicle and driver safety compliance metrics.
  • Contribute to the Engage for Life Strategy, supporting overall business safety goals.
