What the job is:

CPI seeks someone who is positive, outgoing, upbeat, and a natural leader. The ideal candidate will connect quickly with others, establish and maintain relationships, and build rapport and clientele. The Fleet Operations Manager will lead a team of employees, following safety guidelines, and develop strategies to improve efficiency and mobile asset utilization, aligning with CPI’s operational and financial goals.

This role involves analyzing mobile asset utilization data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement, maintaining accurate inventory records, and managing relationships with suppliers, carriers, and service providers. The manager will negotiate contracts for favorable terms, ensure reliable partnerships, and train, mentor, and lead team members emphasizing safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. CPI is a safety-minded company, so safety policies must be strictly followed.

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field, or three years of equivalent experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience in transportation or logistics management, preferably in agriculture or a related industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and strong analytical skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities, emphasizing safety and employee development.
  • Working knowledge of business computer skills (Microsoft Office, accounting, databases, internet software).
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills for managing vendor and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong business acumen, including time management, planning, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and agricultural logistics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to seasonal demands.
