Job description

Maintain and repair Fleet vehicles in compliance with Department and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) guidelines to ensure roadworthiness within the parameters set by the authorities and Operators Licence (O Licence).

Attend breakdowns and repairs 24 hours a day on shifts and call-outs within Conwy County boundaries. Shifts are from 7:00 to 15:00 and 11:00 to 19:00 on alternating weeks.

Work within and maintain quality systems and diagnostic equipment in line with legislation and customer needs.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Maintain, service, and repair the county’s fleet vehicles, plant, and equipment according to manufacturer recommendations, health and safety requirements, and Ministry of Transport Regulations.
  2. Test and inspect vehicles to prepare for MOT testing.
  3. Ensure workshops, surrounding areas, and facilities are maintained in a clean, safe condition, complying with health and safety legislation and industry standards.
  4. Maintain all vehicles, plant, and operational equipment timely to meet departmental demands.
  5. Monitor and report on vehicle and equipment performance, liaising with fleet management for necessary actions.
  6. Perform periodic maintenance and assess accident damage, advising on repairs where appropriate.
  7. Order, fit, and test parts to ensure vehicles are roadworthy.
  8. Test, assess, and repair electric vehicles safely, working towards industry standards.
  9. Maintain documentation and electronic systems to support operational best practices.
  10. Collaborate with fleet management to optimize fleet efficiency.
  11. Maintain security protocols on operational sites during and outside working hours.
  12. Provide technical information, conduct diagnostics, and recommend improvements.
  13. Participate in out-of-hours fleet service and roadside recovery.
  14. Undertake additional reasonable duties as required.
