Job summary

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting to manage the Transport Department and the fleet, ensuring safe maintenance of fire appliances, cars and vans. Based at Malvern in a modern workshop, occasional remote work at fire stations across both counties is possible.

The role involves overseeing maintenance regimes, vehicle design and procurement, and ensuring compliance with legal/operational standards, with scope for ongoing professional development and flexible working.

Qualifications

• Educated to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
• A recognised management qualification.
• Membership of the Institute for Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) or equivalent.
• Certificate of professional competence (CPC) in National Road Haulage.
• Current driving licence.
• Considerable experience of people and budget management in a fleet environment.
• Experience in using fleet management systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the Transport Department and fleet to ensure safe, legal, and operational standards for all vehicles.
• Manage maintenance regimes and workshop operations; oversee design and procurement of service vehicles.
• Lead fleet budgeting and personnel management; collaborate with other stations across counties.

Job description

Responsible for supporting the Operational Logistics Manager in the provision and maintenance of the right fleet, tools and equipment for our employees to carry out their jobs safely and effectively.

Scale P03 £48,738 up to £51,928per annum

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) is seeking to recruit a high-quality individual into this role to manage the Transport Department and our fleet. Through close management of maintenance regimes and logistics at the workshop, you will be responsible for ensuring that our fleet of fire appliances, specialist vehicles, cars and vans are maintained to the required legal and operational standards. The successful applicant would also be involved in the design and procurement of all Service vehicles, helping to shape the future of the fleet within Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service. Based at Malvern in our modern workshop facilities, you may also be required to work remotely at our fire stations across both counties.

We are ideally looking for:
