JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION

Position: Local Business Development Manager

John Roe Group has a role within our Fleet department for a Local Business Development Manager (LBDM).

This is a great opportunity to join the John Roe Group and Toyota, with a full and unrivalled range of vehicles including all our car and commercial models.

With over 50 years of local business knowledge, John Roe has a great reputation with its business contacts and a growing fleet.

Three Toyota centres and one Lexus site cover the Group’s area. You will be based in John Roe Hull, covering areas from Beverly and Market Weighton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, through Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire, down through Gainsborough into Louth in Lincolnshire, and including growing enterprises on the east coast, Grimsby – Immingham, and Hull.

Summary of Purpose

The role involves identifying and developing fleet and business prospects, working with individual businesses and customers to understand their needs, guiding them towards appropriate products, and closing sales.

Main responsibilities and duties

Support to Line Manager:

  • Manage display and professional standards at the centre.
  • Assist in training and developing retail teams to improve customer experience.
  • Review mystery shops and ensure compliance.
  • Promote fleet referrals within showrooms and assist retail teams with smaller opportunities.
  • Adhere to manufacturer operating standards.

Customer Engagement:

  • Build rapport and qualify customer requirements.
  • Promote the John Roe Group and our commitment to customer excellence.
  • Listen to and understand customer needs, both stated and unstated.
  • Guide customers towards suitable options, encouraging test drives.

Order and Delivery Coordination:

  • Coordinate with Fleet Administration for product availability, orders, and scheduling.
  • Confirm delivery dates and notify customers of changes.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Meet customers during delivery to strengthen relationships.
  • Follow up with personal calls to ensure satisfaction and build ongoing relationships.

Business Development:

  • Plan daily sales activities, including prospecting and appointment setting.
  • Use Fleet Portal for review appointments.
  • Maintain activity records and discuss opportunities with the team.
  • Proactively approach new business opportunities and maintain current customer relationships.

Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide seamless customer service.
  • Follow company procedures and comply with legislation (e.g., FCA).
