Overview

Company: DPD UK (a member of Geopost). Job type: Permanent, 40 hours per week. Location: DPD Chelmsford, 2 James Fenton Way, Sheepcoates, Chelmsford, CM2 5AN. Salary: £12.21 per hour. Days: Monday to Friday. Hours: 06:30 – 14:30. DPD UK is a Disability Confident Employer and a Valuable 500 company. The role: Fleet Ambassador.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all vehicles are checked for condition and road worthiness in terms of legal, corporate image and operational compliance; report exceptions via the vehicle check app and defect procedure.
  • Ensure drivers identify and correctly report defects; ensure defects are rectified.
  • Conduct start/end of contract handovers for Owner Driver leased vehicles (employment, terminations, vehicle swaps, hire vans).
  • Provide support to the depot operation by conducting regular site and equipment checks.
  • Report any fleet accidents on the TranMan portal.
Key Daily Checks
  • Check all fleet vehicles (including rental) daily and record the check and condition via the Vehicle App.
  • Check 3.5 Tonne vans to ensure weight does not exceed 3.5 tonnes using the weighbridge.
  • Fleet Ambassador to VOR (vehicle off road) vehicles if damaged or defective.
  • Inspect associated vehicle equipment (material handling equipment, jump packs, fuel pumps, enclosure).
  • Ensure health and safety rules are followed; maintain clear traffic flow and effective parking usage.
  • Verify drivers wear correct DPD uniform and ensure vans are clean and up to standard.
Key Weekly Checks
  • For damaged Owner Driver vehicles, populate a 21-day notice via the app.
  • Record all 21-day/7-day notices in a shared Google Calendar with the Transport Team.
  • Review outstanding notices with the Depot Quality Manager or Depot Manager.
  • Conduct weekly checks and download information from the HGV fleet, noting discrepancies.
  • Check Fleet Stock (glasses, lamps, bulbs, etc.) and reorder as needed.
  • Ensure the gritter is in full working order and clean; report defects to the Regional Transport Engineer.
Qualifications
