Job description

About us

Our rapidly expanding, state-of-the-art Veterinary Hospital located in Livingston, between Edinburgh and Glasgow, is looking for an experienced RVN to join Veterinary Specialist Scotland.

Veterinary Specialists Scotland (VSS) is a multi-disciplinary referral hospital that opened in October 2020. The clinic premises have been purpose-built to deliver the highest standards of veterinary care, while also providing a beautiful and pleasant working environment.

The team’s core values are excellence in patient, client, colleague, and referring vet care, and we place a strong emphasis on team and collaborative working. We are looking for Veterinary Nurses who share our ethos to help make VSS a supportive, stimulating, and enjoyable place to practice veterinary medicine and surgery to the highest standard.

Your role and responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity to join our nursing team as a multi-disciplinary nurse. This candidate will experience a varied and challenging caseload as they work within all areas of the hospital. Our nurses provide a high standard of care for our hospitalized patients and assist the vets with the diagnosis and treatment of complex, interesting conditions.

Working within our dynamic clinical team, the successful candidates will ideally have a good background in referral work, however this is not essential.

As a member of the Linnaeus family, we are committed to the professional development of our nurses, and therefore provide comprehensive support and resources to help individuals reach their full potential.

This is a fixed-term, part-time position working 30 hours per week, including a share of weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Benefits
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays and Birthday Leave
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • External CPD funded
  • Extensive free online Linnaeus CPD programme
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Staff discount schemes
  • Life Assurance
  • Enhanced Sick Pay
  • Enhanced Equal Family Leave
  • E-car salary sacrifice scheme
  • Employer contribution pension scheme
  • Wellness programme including:
    • Employee assistance program
    • Eyecare voucher scheme
    • Free annual Flu jab
    • Cycle to work scheme
Part of an amazing global family

The future of the veterinary world is at the heart of everything we do. We are all individuals, but two important things bring us together: a commitment to excellence and our passion to make a better world for pets.

Linnaeus is owned by Mars, making us part of their 70,000 veterinary health associates who spend their days thinking about the 400 million pets of the world and how to improve their lives. Being part of this global group gives us the benefit of a vast network of experts and specialists, a secure future, and the ability to focus on what we do best — caring for pets.

Our associates are fundamental to our success, and we are proud to count some of the finest specialists, veterinary surgeons, and nurses in the UK among our team.

Being part of the Mars family of businesses offers significant development opportunities across the group for our associates.
