Job summary

Capel Manor College is seeking a lecturer to deliver and assess Level 1 and Level 2 Horticulture subjects. You will prepare and deliver stimulating lessons, set challenging goals, monitor progress and provide feedback to students.

You will work with practical instructors to deliver learner activities, upholding health and safety standards at all times and employing industry-ready teaching approaches.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Degree, HND or other relevant qualification in a related discipline.
• Experience in delivering and assessing to appropriate examination body standards.

Job description

An exciting fixed-term opportunity, funded through the Greater London Authority's London Talent Pathways Programme, a flagship initiative helping Londoners develop the skills needed for careers in the capital's growing green economy.

The programme focuses on Horticulture, grounds maintenance and green spaces, creating clear routes into employment and opportunities to progress within the sector. Through the programmes, you will be supporting the development of practical, industry-ready skills, the building of specialist skills employers are looking for, helping students gain recognised qualifications and valuable experience and enabling them to progress into employment, career advancement or higher-level study.

The ideal candidate will be delivering and assessing to the appropriate examination body standards across Levels 1 and 2 on a range of subjects related to Horticulture, including but not limited to Amenity Horticulture, Plant Science, Propagation, Soil Science, Machinery, Landscaping and Ecology, and basic Garden Design principles.

The post holder will provide high quality teaching and ensure the effective learning of students being taught. This will involve preparing and delivering stimulating lessons, setting goals that stretch and challenge all students, monitoring and assessing student progress, giving feedback and consistently demonstrating the positive attitudes, values and behaviours which are expected of students. They will be supported by a team of practical instructors and technicians with regards to the provision of practical learner activities and ensure that all requirements and regulations relating to health and safety are adhered to at all times.

Applicants should possess a Degree, HND or other relevant qualification in a related discipline. We welcome applications from experienced Lecturers.
