An established industry player is seeking a dedicated practice manager for a 6-9 month maternity cover role. An opportunity has arisen for an accomplished practice manager to join our team for 6-9 months as maternity cover. You must have excellent interpersonal and HR skills to join this friendly, forward-looking medical practice. Candidates will need to be motivated, enthusiastic, possess strategic and tactical expertise, strong communication skills at all levels, leadership and management experience, and excellent IT skills, including knowledge of QOF, Enhanced Services, CQC, Accounts, Payroll, and budgets.
The post is for 25 hours a week.
Internally, the successful candidate will have the ability to lead our strategic planning process, maximize the effectiveness of our clinical and administrative teams through proactive leadership, and effectively manage planned change within the practice while evaluating the effectiveness of that change. You will understand the dynamics and efficiencies required to make a small business successful.
We are a high-achieving busy GMS Practice on two sites with a list size of 11,000 patients, 5 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs, and a full team of receptionists and administrators. We use EMIS WEB and are high achievers in QOF.
Job summary:
The responsibility for the smooth, efficient, and profitable running of the practice, and maintaining a happy and committed team. Also, keeping the partners informed about forthcoming changes in the NHS and providing options for responding to change.
Personnel and training
Managing the administrative staff and non-clinical management of nursing staff, including securing funding, leading staff appraisals, and organizing recruitment, selection, and training. Ensuring contracts of employment are provided to all staff and that employment legislation is followed. Ensuring the practice's employment policies and procedures are comprehensive and up to date.
Finance and profitability
Responsible for bookkeeping, petty cash, and other financial aspects of the practice, including payroll and NHS pension scheme arrangements. Ensuring all income and expenditure are properly recorded and preparing financial reports for the partners.
Information technology
Responsible for the computer system, including organizing maintenance and development, and ensuring compliance with Data Protection legislation.
Patient services
Implementing and maintaining systems to handle patient enquiries and suggestions, overseeing the practice-based complaints procedure, and reviewing/updating the practice information leaflet, website, publicity, and health education materials.
Future planning
Preparing a practice business plan, annual report, and setting practice aims and objectives. Keeping abreast of NHS developments that may impact the practice or individual partners and offering options for consideration.
