Job summary

GKN Aerospace, Filton site in the United Kingdom, is seeking skilled fabricators on a full-time basis. You will perform precision riveting, drilling, countersinking and related assembly tasks using hand and machine tools, while upholding safety and quality standards.

A recognised Level 3 apprenticeship and NVQ, or equivalent, plus knowledge of export controls and SOPs, are required. The role offers a competitive salary with a strong pension and bonus potential, plus extensive benefits and career

Qualifications

• Recognition of Level 3 apprenticeship and NVQ or equivalent.
• Export Control and regulatory requirements knowledge.
• Ability to work to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated approach.
• Experience with lean manufacturing is advantageous.
• Experience operating CNC machinery is desirable for Fabricators.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision riveting, drilling, reaming and countersinking.
• Set structures in build jigs and perform deburring and fettling.
• Carry out aluminium treatment touch-ups and use CNC pillar drills.
• Part marking and identification to required standards.
• Work safely and support the team to deliver high-quality work.

How You'll Contribute

You’ll use a range of hand and machine tools to carry out work including:

• Precision riveting
• Drilling, reaming and countersinking
• Setting structures in build jigs
• Deburring and fettling
• Treatment touch-ups on aluminium
• Using CNC pillar drills
• Part marking and identification

You’ll work with materials including titanium, aluminium and stainless steel, carrying out work including:

What You'll Bring

You'll need a recognised Level 3 apprenticeship and NVQ, or equivalent, in a relevant fitting or fabrication field, along with:

• An understanding of Export Control and regulatory requirements
• The ability to work to standard operating procedures
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• A self-motivated approach

Previous aircraft manufacturing experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing would be an advantage. For Fabricators, experience operating CNC machinery is also desirable.

What We'll Offer

Once you’re on board you’ll get the following perks and benefits:

• A total package of £57,800 (based on the current Day shift pattern at 25% shift allowance + built in overtime) – Please note shift patterns are subject to change & we are a 24/7 facility.

Standard starting salary of £36,717 for an initial 12 week training period, followed by £38,220 & additional premiums as above based on business needs.
