Job summary

The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews is seeking a friendly Fitness Receptionist to join our team. You will be the first impression for guests at The Kohler Water Fitness Centre, handling memberships, class bookings, emails, calls and retail with a professional manor.

Your role includes opening/closing the centre, ensuring a 5* environment, answering inquiries promptly, and supporting fitness inductions and classes.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification.
• Strong time management to cover shifts.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Energetic and positive attitude with a flexible approach.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to stay calm with challenging guests.
• Competent with computer systems and bookings.

Responsibilities

• Open/close Fitness Centre and operate lights, TVs, music, CCTV, and cash registers.
• Test pool facilities and record readings.
• Handle calls, emails, and app inquiries promptly and professionally.
• Assist guests, members, and day guests at the desk.
• Maintain a 5* clean, tidy and welcoming area.
• Schedule all classes, pool, and gym bookings.
• Record paperwork accurately and manage waiting lists for new memberships.
• Provide fitness inductions and demonstrations as required.

About The Role

We are currently looking for a Receptionist to join our fitness team. The Fitness Centre at the Old Course Hotel offers the ideal wellness environment. Our dedicated team of fitness professionals can help fulfil personal needs, catering to all levels of expertise, experience and fitness levels.

The Fitness Receptionist provides a friendly, efficient, and professional first impression to everybody arriving at the Kohler Water Fitness Centre. In this role, you will ensure that all the day-to-day running of the reception duties, such as memberships, class bookings, emails, telephone calls and retail, are carried out in a professional manor.

Your responsibilities will include;

• Open and close the Fitness Centre including turning on/off all lights, TVs, computers, music, CCTV, cash in registers.
• Test the swimming pool, hot tub and pool alarm and record readings.
• Answer all telephone calls, emails and App enquires promptly and professionally.
• Deal with all guests, members and day guest requests at the desk.
• Ensure area is clean and tidy whilst displaying a 5* environment.
• Ensure all classes, swimming pool and gymnasium bookings are scheduled.
• Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and recorded
• Manage all new membership enquiries, record information on waiting list and inform them when a space becomes available.
• Provide fitness inductions as required, demonstrate equipment and take fitness classes.
• Adhoc duties

Essential Requirements

• Level 2 or equivalent in Gym Instructor
• Good time management including start and finish times.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Energetic and positive attitude.
• Flexible approach to the job and be able to work a variety of hours including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to deal calmly but firmly with the occasional “difficult” guests thereby reaching a satisfactory outcome.
• Computer literate.
