Job description

A Planet Fitness Instructor must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to create and conduct safe and effective exercise sessions for a wide variety of participants. The primary focus of a Fitness Instructor is to help guide members toward their personal fitness goals. This includes assisting new members in achieving their goals by designing workout programs and instructing them on the proper use of equipment. Our instructors provide guidance, education, and encouragement, and most importantly, develop relationships with all members to improve retention.

Fitness instructors are responsible for the general upkeep of the club’s equipment, maintaining floor cleanliness, and outreach to inactive members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Greeting members, prospective members, and guests with a warm and friendly smile as they arrive and depart.
• Conducting fitness assessments and designing personal programs tailored to members' goals.
• Conducting and managing the Planet Fitness PE@PF program.
• Instructing members on the proper and safe use of equipment.
• Creating bi-weekly exercise updates with varied routines.
• Meeting class requirements based on club size and member traffic.
• Assisting with front desk activities, including answering phones and checking members into the system.
• Maintaining and lubricating all fitness equipment.
• Responding to member questions and concerns professionally and promptly, escalating issues to management as needed.

Shift Structure (subject to change based on business needs):

• Early morning shifts on Monday and Friday, starting at 6 am.
• Afternoon shifts Tuesday to Thursday, ending at 8 pm.
• On-the-job training and skill development.
• Performance-based pay increases.

Physical Demands

• Standing and walking continuously during shifts.
• Talking in person or on the phone regularly.
