Job Opportunity: Sports Coach (Special Needs Experience Required)
Location: Stoke On Trent
Full-Time Immediate Start
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Sports Coach to join our team at a specialist school supporting children with a range of additional needs. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about inclusive physical education and making a real difference in young lives.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging sports and physical activity sessions that are tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. The children you will work with may have experienced trauma and may present with anxiety, behavioural challenges, or mental health needs. Physical activity is a key part of their development and therapeutic support.
Essential Requirements:
Minimum of 6 months experience working in the UK
Proven experience working with children with special educational needs, including trauma, anxiety, behaviour, and mental health challenges
Experience and training in physical intervention (Team Teach or equivalent)
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (no public transport available to the school)
A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver inclusive, structured sports sessions in line with students' abilities and needs
Support pupils in developing physical skills, confidence, and teamwork
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Use de-escalation techniques and physical intervention when necessary, in line with training
