Job summary

Blackburn Rovers Football & Athletic is seeking a First Team Individual Development Coach to embed an individualised player development approach within the first team. You will deliver structured IDPs and align sessions with each player’s position and club principles.

You will regularly review progress with players, creating pathways for high-potential youth players to reach first-team training and matchdays, while coordinating with medical, sports science, and data staff for performance

Qualifications

• UEFA A Licence, FA Advanced Youth Award and FA Youth Award Modules 1–3 are essential; working towards UEFA Pro Licence is desirable.
• A proven track record of developing elite players from academy to first team with strong EPPP experience.
• Experience using performance data to evaluate player development.
• Strong skills in PowerPoint/Keynote, Hudl/Sportscode and Wyscout.
• Organised, discreet and adaptable to a first-team schedule, including evenings, weekends and travel.

Responsibilities

• Hold regular one-to-one meetings and structured IDP reviews with every player each development block.

• Review matches, produce presentations and clip, code and annotate training and matches.

The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Head Coach and Head of Player Development, you will deliver structured Individual Development Plans (IDPs) so that every player’s progress is maximised, whatever their selection status, injury, loan or squad travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Help deliver IDPs for first-team and Professional Development Phase players, including those on loan or transitioning to the first team
• Design and deliver individual and small-group technical sessions linked to the club’s principles and each player’s position
• Hold regular one-to-one meetings and structured IDP reviews with every player each development block

• Contract: Permanent, full time (40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends)
