Job summary

Alliance Automotive Logistics in Rotherham is seeking a First Line Manager to oversee Supervisors and warehouse teams, translating strategic goals into daily actions and driving efficiency across picking, packing, inventory, and despatch. You will monitor KPIs, coach staff, implement lean improvements, ensure SOPs and SSOWs, and collaborate with maintenance and engineering to minimise waste and incidents.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; advanced certifications in logistics, supply chain management, or operations are advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in a warehouse or distribution environment with at least two years in a management or team leadership role.
  • Familiarity with automotive parts distribution or similar high-volume industries is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills; proficient in WMS and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety standards and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily warehouse operations, including order picking, packing, inventory control and despatch.
  • Oversee and support Supervisors in organising workloads and managing teams to meet daily targets.
  • Monitor workflow, prioritise tasks, and ensure cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Track and report operational KPIs such as pick accuracy, productivity, and on-time despatch rates.
  • Review team performance with Supervisors and address underperformance; implement improvement initiatives.
  • Drive lean methodologies to reduce waste and improve productivity; ensure SOPs are followed and updated.
  • Enforce health and safety compliance, conduct risk assessments and audits, and address incidents.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to Supervisors; identify high-potential staff and succession plans.
  • Monitor resource allocation and staffing levels; collaborate with recruitment; optimise space, equipment and automation.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering to address technical issues affecting operations.
