Were looking for a proactive and driven First Line Manager to lead our farm collection milk logistics operation in Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our customers receive the highest standard of service, while supporting and developing a dedicated team of drivers.

What Youll Be Doing

As a First Line Manager, youll be responsible for the day-to-day running of our milk delivery operations. Youll ensure that our Office and Driving Teams execute the daily plans efficiently and safely, using telematics systems and a continuous improvement mindset to drive performance.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading and supporting your team with clear, effective communication.
  • Ensuring Operational Planning & Execution is conducted correctly, including managing resources to meet collection schedules, responding to changes in customer demand and ensuring service levels are met.
  • Adjusting schedules to meet customer demand while maintaining profitability.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal driver hours, WTD, and vehicle roadworthiness, logging and responding to accidents and incident appropriately and in line with procedures.
  • Performance Monitoring, including KPIs, reporting on performance and identifying and improving on efficiencies.
  • Employee Engagement & Support, including team engagement and collaboration, as well as dealing with employee concerns and managing issues, including investigations.
  • Resource & Holiday Management, ensuring adequate staffing levels, including holidays and shift coverage in line with operational requirements.

What Were Looking For

  • Experience in transport or logistics operations (dairy or FMCG preferred).
  • CPC in Transport management preferred.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience essential.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of transport legislation and compliance.
  • Proficiency with telematics and transport management systems.
  • A hands-on, solutions-focused approach with a passion for team development.
