FLM – First Line Manager

Location: South Yorkshire

Salary: Circa £33,500

SHIFT: Lates: Sunday to Thursday - 14:30 to 23:00

Venatu Recruitment Group is proud to partner with a leading distribution and wholesale company in search of an experienced FLM – First Line Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic National Distribution Centre at a time of significant growth.

We seek a strong leader with a proven track record in managing large teams within a fast-paced distribution environment.

Role Overview

The First Line Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance of Supervisors and their teams to ensure operational objectives are met. As a key link between the Operations Manager and warehouse Supervisors, this role is critical for translating strategic goals into actionable plans, maintaining operational efficiency, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage daily warehouse operations, including order picking, packing, inventory control, and despatch.
  2. Oversee and support Supervisors in organising workloads and managing teams effectively to meet daily targets.
  3. Monitor workflow, prioritise tasks, and ensure smooth inter-departmental collaboration.
  4. Track and report on operational KPIs, such as pick accuracy, productivity, and on-time despatch rates.
  5. Review team performance regularly with Supervisors, identifying areas for improvement and addressing underperformance proactively.
  6. Implement performance improvement initiatives in line with company objectives.
  7. Collaborate with Supervisors and Operations Managers to identify opportunities for process optimisation and cost reduction.
  8. Drive the implementation of lean methodologies to eliminate waste and enhance productivity.
  9. Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed and updated as needed.
  10. Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations, supporting Supervisors in conducting risk assessments and audits.
  11. Ensure all employees operate in compliance with safe systems of work (SSOWs) and company policies.
  12. Investigate and report safety incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
