Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) to join a busy, expanding MSK service at Harrogate District Hospital. The role includes a mixed caseload embedded in primary care with close ties to a large secondary care MDT.

You will apply advanced clinical reasoning to manage patient care, refer for investigations, and contribute to the FCP roadmap with CPD support and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered MSK specialist with ongoing post-graduate training.
• Minimum of 5 years MSK clinical experience including NHS exposure.
• Experience in staff management is desirable.

There continues to be exciting opportunities to work in a busy, expanding First Contact Practitioner (FCP) Service at Harrogate District Hospital.

As an FCP you will be embedded in Primary care practices, with close working relationships with a large, secondary care MDT team, including; Orthopaedics, Radiology and Rheumatology.

A successful candidate will take on a mixed caseload, working at the very forefront of the patient MSK pathway. Opportunities to use advanced clinical reasoning to manage patient needs, refer on for further investigations, and specialist opinions.

There will also be CPD opportunities and support to undertake the FCP roadmap.

Main duties of the job

• Provide expert clinical decision making including referring for investigations, acting as First-contact physiotherapist (FCP) and making diagnoses/decisions about the best course of action for patients' care (including in relation to undifferentiated conditions).
• Exercise professional judgement, making, justifying and taking responsibility for decisions in unpredictable situations
• Use investigative skills to progress and request investigations to facilitate diagnosis and choice of treatment regime
• Devise and deliver programmes of supported patient self-management

Person Specification

MSK specialist

Essential

• Registered with Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Completed or working towards MSc or MSK specialist post-graduate training at Masters level
• Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
• Minimum of 5 years clinical experience within MSK
• Previous NHS experience
• Experienced in staff management

Desirable

• May hold or be working towards a prescribing qualification
• Basic level management/leadership training
• May hold or be working towards an injection qualification
• Holding or working towards stage 1 and stage 2 of FCP registration
