Role Purpose:

First Contact Practitioners (FCPs) consult directly with patients without prior GP referral, enabling rapid MSK diagnosis or referral to secondary care. The role streamlines care pathways by interpreting assessments and managing plans. Although based within GP practices, support is provided through a robust network including Line Managers and regional teams.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient needs as an MSK expert within primary care, within scope, utilizing relevant services to support GPs.
  • Integrate within the PCN team, engaging with all stakeholders.
  • Deliver patient self-management programs to promote behavioral change, physical activity, and minimize medication use.
  • Represent Pure Physiotherapy professionally, ensuring transparent communication.
  • Work flexibly across multiple GP practices within the PCN contract.
  • Adapt to changing demands within primary care landscapes.
  • Track patient appointments to demonstrate service value to commissioners.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • HCPC Registration
  • BSc Physiotherapy
  • Minimum 5 years MSK experience
  • Roadmap Stage 1 signed off
  • Roadmap Stage 2 signed off
