BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is home to 4,500 digital, cyber, and intelligence experts. We work collaboratively across 10 countries to collect, connect, and understand complex data, enabling governments, nation states, armed forces, and commercial businesses to unlock digital advantages in demanding environments.

We develop world-class RF, communications, and data systems and are expanding our teams in space systems and C5ISR, with a common requirement for electronic engineering.

Our teams provide consultancy-led engineering services, research, and development to national security and defense clients. Solving our clients’ problems often involves producing innovative high-performance solutions with cutting-edge software and hardware technologies.

What you will be doing… (Role Duties and Responsibilities)

In this role, you will:

  1. Design and deliver high-performance radio, communications, and data processing systems, tackling complex design challenges.
  2. Work on sensitive radio receivers, low SWaP environments, or innovative DSP algorithms.
  3. Lead teams of engineers or develop your DSP skills within a dynamic engineering team, depending on your experience level.
  4. Work on state-of-the-art radio application designs on SDR platforms, from concept and modeling (MATLAB) to implementation (VHDL, C/C++).

What we are looking for… (Skills and Experience)

We seek ambitious, high-caliber individuals with:

Essential:

  • Strong motivation and a background in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics; PhD applicants encouraged.
  • Experience in radio, communications, and/or Digital Signal Processing techniques.
  • Significant firmware development experience (VHDL) for FPGAs/RFSoCs, with appropriate design tools (e.g., Vivado).
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Linux, VHDL, Verilog, MATLAB.
  • Proven problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent teamwork abilities and quick learning capacity.

Desirable:

  • Interest in the space sector and awareness of industry developments.
  • Experience developing for space applications.
  • Interest in wireless technology, embedded systems, and latest industry trends.
  • Understanding of hardware design with hands-on debugging experience.
  • Knowledge of communication system design and modem development.

Further Information

Occasional travel to customer sites may be required. An SC level security clearance is necessary, and candidates should be capable of obtaining UK SC clearance.
