Job summary

Harvey Nash Group in Reading is seeking a Firewall Engineer for an initial 6-month contract, operating in a hybrid capacity. The role focuses on discovery and documentation of the existing firewall estate, followed by hands-on BAU support and project delivery within the Cyber Resilience Programme.

Job description

Harvey Nash is now inviting candidates to apply for the role of Firewall Engineer, an initial 6 month contract to be hybrid in Reading.

• Ideally, candidates will already hold Security clearance, at a minimum candidates must be eligible.
• Inside of IR35 / Umbrella
• £500 - £700 a day

This is a support role for a newly established "Network & Security" team within the Cyber Resilience Programme. An initial focus on discovery and documentation of the existing firewall estate, followed by hands‑on support of the firewall environment as part of Business As Usual (BAU) operations and project delivery.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience working as a Firewall Engineer within a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong hands on experience with Check Point firewalls, including policy design, implementation, and operational support.
• Experience with both physical and virtual firewall platforms, including cloud hosted firewall environments.
• Experience supporting firewall services across both operational (BAU) and project based workstreams.
• Strong documentation skills, with experience capturing as?is environments and producing clear, structured technical documentation.
• Good understanding of network security principles, firewall architectures, and secure network design.
